David Perry is an LA cinematographer and Director of Photography of feature films, short films, music videos, and commercials. Since 2003, David has worked with talented directors, producers, production companies, and agencies from around the country to create powerful, award winning work. His critical eye for composition is evident in his compelling cinematography.

David’s professional career started in 1986 as a designer in the dinnerware and giftware business, designing and producing products for companies in Virginia and Maine. Working in that field until 1999, he learned a lot about efficient production, working on a design team, managing and meeting budgets and deadlines. Those skills have served him well in everything he’s done since.

In 1998, David’s focus shifted to the media world when he undertook the design of a web site for his employer. David has been involved in some sort of media production professionally ever since.

David has been a photographer all of his life and has worked in video since 2003. In 2013 he started his production company Dave Perry Cinematographer LLC with the emphasis of moving into motion picture production. Although DPC-LLC continues to offer post production services, David has focused his energy on working as a Director of Photography in narrative, documentary, and corporate filmmaking. In 2019 David moved to Hollywood, CA.

David’s also a gear head at heart and loves cars, motorcycles, cameras, and machines of any kind. He loves the sound of a small block Ford V-8 at full throttle and the smell of fresh cut grass and lawn mower exhaust in the morning. He’s always tinkered with stuff and been able to fix or diagnose gear. He’s even built some of his own production gear.
